Last word on what really happened in Peru

We were detained on our exit from Peru by immigrations officials, as the work permit that was sent to us transpired to be a worthless piece of paper that the Peruvian promoter misled us into believing was the official document required for our stay in Peru. The promoter was trying to avoid paying taxes and we were not allowed to leave the country until he had filed the correct documentation with the tax authorities and made the necessary payments.

We had no problems at all in Chile, because the promoters there had paid all taxes and issued us with the correct work permits.

Although this was a hugely distressing incident for all of us, both shows were excellent. We would again like to apologise to any fans who could not make the rescheduled show in Santiago, but this really was entirely the fault of the promoter in Peru.

Best wishes

Vanessa

A shame really, those bastards are going to pay. Requiem Producciones are going to be exposed all over the media here in Lima as the scums they are.
It was very strange that Brett, with a huge following in Lima had so little exposure in the media, with no advertising at all and playing in such an obscure and underground place as Voce. How come other bands with less following than brett, organised gigs with well over than 3000 thousand fans in better places.
I'm a great Suede fan, and didn't know he was coming to Lima, only a couple of days before the gig I saw a small poster in some back Alley in Lima and I thought, is it a joke or what??
A lot of die hard brett and suede fans, are surprised he was here?? They didn't know!!!
Obviously the promoter (a scum)just wanted to profit, not advertising the gig, and cheat Brett and his crew. A pity, is the first time I heard of that promoter "Requiem" (Dead more like) and is the first time that a foreign artist is cheated in this town. A shame it had to occur to Brett. A shame Oasis (less artistically than suede and Brett) came to Lima in front of 45,000 fans , had no problems, and travelled well and fine while Brett had to suffer this. The difference, of course, was the Promoter, Oasis promoter in Lima was top, while that fucker Requiem just a cheat.
Hey but don't worry, he's going to be exposed, and hopefully, spend some time in courts.

Come back Mr. Anderson, now contact a proper local promoter, let him organise a concert with well over than 10,000 fans , because there are a lot of people that missed your superb performance. Sorry for these fucking fellow country men (Requiem), and cheers from all the good old fans that enjoyed your gig and aprecite you.

Thanks for your words.
At least the chilean promoters were professionals. I hope that this allows to organize another show later on, with more of the solo work of Brett. There were a lot of songs that i miss.
Thank you all you guys, for the excellent show. And thanks to Brett, who gave us all the time for meet him and to sign our discos, photos, etc. I hope the wine was fine :)

commiserations, but it's good to hear that the shows were excellent for you as well. Hope that no promoter will ever leave you high and dry like that again. x

lol Smash :)

At least there were shows, next time it won't happen again probably ;) It speaks of determination that the show in Chile still took place, even if a few days later....

I am also angry about Requiem Producciones, they didn't promote properly the gig, i know many people that are Brett fans but never realised Brett was in town.

Now everybody is very angry towards Requiem, they are thieves and they will never take part in any gig of any kind.

I just want to say many thanks to Brett, he was fantastic in Lima, even with all the bad promotion,he overcame all this and gave us the best night of our lives!!

Thank you Brett many thanks, The peruvian people really loves you.

Post it Vanessa, we'll take care of that bastard!

The local web page Codigo Musica is already exposing this people from Requiem, they are "new " in the bussiness and nobody knows about them. Fans were at the airport to receive Brett, and some thugs from Requiem tried to avoid any contact Brettt could have with the fans as somebody said in a thread.Everything was so strange! Is clear now that Requiem Producciones brought illegally Brett and his crew to Peru (without a work permission). That's why all the problems at the airport.

People are so angry now, everybody is searching for them, this is just the beggining, but fans and other legally established local producers are so angry that we're not going to stop till this people are exposed massively to the local public and media as the fraud that they are.

If this production company is dishonest, then it might do this again to another musician. So I hope that they won't be allowed to trade again and it's good that the local site is talking about it.

Brett’s performance in Lima was fantastic. But I feel very ashamed that Peruvian promoters had caused this problem to Brett, to Vanessa, the staff, and of course to all the Chilean fans (and also Brazilian fans that travel to Chile).

Yes, Vanessa, you should say what the promoter’s name is in order that he gives explanations (if there are some...) and for not doing the same thing to another artist (a year ago Peruvian newspapers reported that Requiem tried to bring Tim Booth –from JAMES- to Lima).

In Lima, we are very annoyed with that horrible promotor but we are going to demand that they pay for this

The show in lima was really fantastic and we LOVE BRETT...so much

We hope that he returns soon with a proper promoter

Thank you Brett, we love you.

That note was written by the page Lista Dark, not Codigo Musica

Anyway, does anyone has the e-mail of Requiem Producciones? We have to make sure this won't happen again.

Yes, somebody posted an e-mail, in the webpage conciertos Peru. Perhaps is only an alternative e-mail, but is the only reference we have of those bastards!

requiem_producciones@hotmail.com
Cellphones 993018949 - 997687194
son datos que aparecieron en 1er Flyer

[conciertosperu.com.pe]

As the link from conciertos Peru shows, people are really angry towards
those cheats from Requiem Producciones! Let's collapse their e-mails and make public their phones!!!!!!
How dare they treat someone as brilliant as Brett like they did!!!

Hello Vanessa:

First, i want to say that all the peruvian fans of Brett, are really really really upset for all the unconfortable moments that you lived in our beloved PerU, and we want to apologize, from the bottom of our hearts ... i'm pretty sure that all the people who really love the high quality music and was so lucky to be at the concert, are very grateful for the amazing show that Brett and all the crew gave to us ... please, don't let that this unfortunate fact, takes the desire from you to return some (not so far) day ... sorry again, and thanks for all.

Fenix

Seems awfully odd. The documentation was good enough to provide entry to the country. I wonder if the group was kept back to provide leverage on the promoter, with whom they'd surely have no responsibility towards in terms of being complicit in his tax bill. Unless the contract was a load of balls. Or maybe I'm just talking balls. Curious stuff.

as stated before - someone will surely get fired or beaten up for this. it's all very kafka in its detailed absurdity.
